Our Vision

To strengthen Noongar cultural authority, language, education, community wellbeing, and self-determination through Aboriginal-led, community-led, and culturally secure programs, partnerships, and services — guided by our deep connection to Land, Spirit, Water, and Truth-telling.

Our Mission

Goomburrup Aboriginal Corporation exists to uphold Wardandiand Noongar cultural leadership, revitalise language and cultural knowledge, protect Land, Spirit, and Water, and create opportunities through Aboriginal-led truth-telling, education, housing, cultural learning, empowerment, justice partnerships, and pathways to opportunity so families can thrive on Country, in community, and in spirit.

Culturally led & Truth-Telling

Empowering Community The Investment

  • Embed community-led truth-telling in all programs and governance.
  • Uphold Elders’ leadership as central to all decision-making.
  • Protect and revitalise language, song, dance, land, spirit, and water.
  • Lead Aboriginal-led cultural forums, truth-telling projects, and reconciliation initiatives.

Housing & Safe Places

  • Develop an Aboriginal-led Hostel for transitional housing.
  • Advocate for community-led, culturally secure housing initiatives.
  • Build wrap-around supports linking housing to education and employment.
  • Ensure all housing responses align with Aboriginal cultural frameworks of family and Country.

Family Safety & Healing

  • Establish an Aboriginal Women’s Refuge to provide safety and cultural healing.
  • Deliver community-led, family-led decision-making and cultural safety planning.
  • Expand prevention and early intervention programs.
  • Address intergenerational trauma with Aboriginal-led, culturally grounded care.
Education, Opportunity & Community Empowerment

Education, Opportunity & Community Empowerment

  • Deliver community-led education and training pathways for all ages.
  • Invest in Aboriginal Community Empowerment Programs to build grassroots leadership.
  • Provide employment and workforce development opportunities, with a focus on Aboriginal and Noongar leadership. Expand partnerships with schools, TAFEs, and universities.

Partnerships, Research & Accountability

  • Formalise partnerships with Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations (ACCOs), local government, and service providers.
  • Strengthen collaboration with the South West Police Aboriginal Advisory Group for justice reform.
  • Lead Aboriginal-led, culturally responsive research and evaluation.
  • Report transparently to community through AGMs, newsletters, and forums.
Youth Leadership & Restoring Justice

Youth Leadership & Restoring Justice

  • Establish a Youth Advisory Council to guide governance.
  • Expand Aboriginal-led Youth Restoring Justice diversionary pathways.
  • Develop community-led climate and cultural leadership programs led by youth.
  • Strengthen partnerships with the South West Police Aboriginal Advisory Group, ensuring Aboriginal voices guide justice reform.

Recent Achievements

  • Established the Goomburrup Elders and Cultural Advisory Group to guide Aboriginal-led governance.
  • Delivered the Yira Bidi Empowerment Program, a community-led family healing program.
  • Launched youth climate and justice projects empowering young Aboriginal leaders.
  • Developed truth-telling forums and reconciliation programs.
  • Built partnerships with the City of Bunbury, South West Development Commission, and South West Police Aboriginal Advisory Group.
  • Initiated advocacy for an Aboriginal Hostel and Women’s Refuge.

  • Embedding truth-telling, cultural safety, and Aboriginal knowledge into every program, partnership, and service.
  • Building capacity through education, training, and employment pathways that grow our future leaders.
  • Advocating for housing, family safety, youth justice, and community empowerment that reflect Noongar values.
  • Strengthening alliances with ACCOs, government, police, and industry, always the Goomburrup way.
  • Maintaining accountability through transparent reporting and community feedback forums.

Our Vision for Self-Determination

    Our pathway is one of self-determination — where Noongar people decide our own future; where our language, land, spirit, and water are restored and protected; where Elders’ wisdom guides the next generation; where our children and youth thrive in culture, education, and opportunity; and where Goomburrup stands strong as an Aboriginal-led organisation, walking together with community to heal, grow, and prosper. This Strategic Plan 2025–2027 is more than a document — it is a living commitment to a future built by us, for us, and with us.
